What this site records.

What is recorded

When you open a page here, the server writes one row containing:

• your IP address
• the approximate city and country your IP resolves to, and your network operator
• the page you opened and the site you arrived from, if any
• your browser and operating system, as reported by your browser
• the date and time

Requests for images, fonts and stylesheets are not recorded — only pages.

Why

This is a personal portfolio. The log exists so I can see whether people are finding it and where they came from. It is not used for advertising, it is not combined with anything else, and it is never sold or shared.

How long it is kept

Ninety days. Older rows are deleted automatically — this is enforced in the code that writes the log, not merely stated here.

Cookies

One, and it is a number. The hero slate counts your screenings — Screening 3 · Welcome back — with a first-party cookie called scr that holds that count and nothing else, for a year. It identifies nothing, is sent nowhere but here, and the site works identically without it. Visitor statistics come from Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is aggregate and cookie-free — which is why you were not asked to accept anything.

The slate

The line under the headline naming your city, your clock and the distance the reel travelled is written at the edge from the same geolocation Cloudflare attaches to every request; it is read once to render the page and is not kept beyond the visit log described above. Where you came in from is read from the referrer your browser sends, if it sends one. If you leave the sequence part-way, the clip you were on is kept in your browser's own storage so the deck can offer to resume — on that device only, never sent anywhere, cleared when you reach OUT. Crawlers get the page without any of it.

Pulled reels

You can mark films as selects and mint a link to your own cut, such as alnimeri.com/reel/5a3. The link is the cut: one character per film, in your order. Nothing else is encoded in it and nothing is stored on the server when you make one — your bin lives in your browser's own storage until you clear it. Opening a reel link is logged like any other page view, described above.

Video

Films play through Vimeo, embedded with Do Not Track enabled, so Vimeo does not build a profile of you from this site. Vimeo still receives the request needed to deliver the video, under its own privacy policy. Following a link out to X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or LinkedIn takes you into their terms, not mine.

Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes requests on my behalf and keeps its own operational logs under its privacy policy.

Your rights

If you are in the UK, EU, or another region with equivalent law, you can ask what is held about you and ask for it to be deleted. Email ahmed@alnimeri.com from the network you visited on, or tell me the approximate date and time, and I will find and remove it. Given the ninety-day window, it may already be gone.
